Hello! My name is Kelly and I am currently on the path to becoming an art educator. I am in my senior year at The Ohio State University in the art ed. core program and upon graduation in 2015 will be qualified to teach art to grades PK - 12. I have been interested in all things creative since a young age and look forward to a career working to educate todays youth about artistic technique, expression, and meaning. My goal is to develop creative and innovative thinkers, and provide opportunities for exploration and personal growth. I see art as an opportunity to connect with and learn from others through the sharing of ideas, beliefs, cultures, and human experiences of the world, as well as a means of self reflection. I am interested in the artistic process, especially when it comes to the way children think about the world and express themselves through art. I am also passionate about discovering new artists and hearing their reflections on their work. I am educated in art history, trained in technical skills, and have ample experience working with children. I originate from Tallmadge, Ohio and am one of four siblings. I highly value creativity, in its many forms, and look forward to a career both teaching and learning from my students. In my free time I like D.I.Y projects, sketching, watching old movies, reading, and getting outdoors. I love new project ideas and tips, so if you have any for me please send them my way!
